Steamcon IV

The theme of this year’s Steamcon was “Victorian Monsters.” I have to lead with these guys because it was Girl Genius that got me started with steampunk.

I squee’d like the fan girl I am when I saw them. Hellboy was also there.

There were various creatures with fangs that bite and beaks that peck.

This one isn’t so scary.

But I’ll bet this one makes her nervous.

Bird? Pirate? Bird Pirate?

Again with the clever steampunking of a favorite character(s)!

Drake was there, I think. But it’s hard to tell since he was invisible.

Thanks to our buddy Jeff for the last minute loan of the gray gloves that really completed the effect.

This next one really looks like The Spine from
SPG, but don’t be fooled. It’s a female fan cosplaying. Not only is her makeup dead on, but she’s as slender as The Spine, so she really looks the part despite the fact that she’s at least a foot shorter than him.

Of course, no confab of monsters would be complete without our favorite zombie from
League of S.T.E.A.M.

And who will protect us from this motley crew of evil creatures? In addition to the aforementioned LoS, there were several other monster hunters present to save the day.

This one was on my team for Lady Heterodyne’s Airship Regatta. Sadly, we didn’t win this year like we did the first year, but we competed with vigor and determination. Perhaps next year we will regain our former glory.

Speaking of next year, we’ve already bought our tickets. The theme’s going to be “Around the World.” I’m so set! I don’t even need to worry about a new costume.

With this post I managed to keep one of my New Year’s resolutions for 2012: catch up on bloops. And just in the nick of time. One of my resolutions for 2013 is to catch up on
Logbook entries. So, if you provided us input for an entry during 2012 and are wondering what happened, worry not. You’ll be hearing from me in 2013.
